Dr. Deidre Downs
She is fellowship-trained in reproductive medicine and surgery, including the treatment of infertility and other gynecologic and reproductive conditions. She relocated to Charlotte, NC after serving as the medical director for the University of Alabama IVF and Third-Party reproduction programs. Dr. Downs is an advocate for women’s health fertility issues, access to care and LGBT+ family building options. Her practice philosophy is based on a patient centered approach that emphasizes the care of the whole patient.
Dr. Downs was named Miss America in 2005 and earned scholarship money used toward her training and education in medical school. She embarked on her medical journey at the University of Alabama, where she earned her medical degree. Her passion for women’s health led her to continue onto a four-year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Alabama. Dr. Down’s leadership abilities really shined in residency training where she served as the Administrative Chief Resident and received the Chairman’s Award of Excellence.
Dr. Downs then pursued advanced sub-specialty fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Alabama. This additional training has equipped her with the latest knowledge and techniques, helping her to serve a diverse patient population.
Beyond her notable professional achievements, she shares her time outside of work with her wife, Abbott, and their children. In her free time, Deidre enjoys creative writing, graphic design, playing video games and photography.
Dr. Downs joined the team at Reach Fertility in December of 2024. She is currently accepting new patients.
